Although many commercial solutions for the elimination of black mould are successful, many of them include harsh chemicals that may be just as hazardous as the mould itself. You don’t have to use dangerous chemicals to get rid of mould in your home.
The following are four methods describing how to clean bathroom mould naturally.
1. Vinegar
Cleaning, deodorizing, and disinfecting properties are all provided by white vinegar. On both porous and non-porous surfaces, it can easily destroy 82% of the mould species, including black mould. It’s safe to use on most surfaces, and the strong smell it leaves behind rapidly dissipates.
Fill a spray bottle halfway with undiluted white vinegar. Water dilutes the acetic acid content of white vinegar, making it less effective. Spray the mouldy area with vinegar and leave it there for an hour. Finally, rinse the area with water and leave it dry before moving on to the following step. Vinegar odours should be gone within a couple of hours.
2. Baking soda
Baking soda may be used for various household tasks, from absorbing fridge aromas to soothing indigestion. It can even be used to remove black mould. If you’re concerned about the health of your family members or pets, this product is safe to use.
Shake a spray bottle full of water and 1/4 tsp. Baking soda until the soda is completely dissolved. Using a scrub brush, eliminate the mould from the surface with baking soda and distilled water. Remove any baking soda residue by flushing the surface with water. After that, re-spray the area and let it dry naturally without wiping it down. You may use this to eliminate any remaining mould and prevent it from returning.
Black mould may be difficult to remove with a standard household cleaning solution. Make a thick paste by stirring the ingredients for a long time. Allow your mixture to dry after thoroughly spreading it throughout the surface. Remove the black mould and marks by scrubbing and then wiping down with soap and water.
Essential Oils
Essential oils have popularized aromatherapy, but these natural molecules are capable of much more. You may use tea tree oil as an insect repellent, disinfectant, and deodorizer to remove black mould. In addition to removing mould swiftly, tea tree oil also serves as a natural fungicide, helping to keep the spores from re-appearing.
Shake the spray container vigorously to combine the oil and water after adding one spoonful of tea tree oil. Spritz the mouldy area, let it sit for a few hours, and then use a soft cloth or clean cloth to remove the mould. Make careful to use gloves while handling essential oils since some individuals find them irritating to their skin.
Lemons
You can use lemons for anything from deodorizing to cleaning, removing stains, and even black mould. Acids in citrus deconstruct mould, allowing it to be easily removed, and leaving a cleaned surface in its wake. With that beautiful citrus scent, of course!
The mouldy region may be treated with a cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice. After five minutes, use a moist cloth to wipe the surface clean. Mould stains may be removed by reapplying and scrubbing the surface.
